A small tax (such as 0.5%) on trades of stocks, bonds, derivatives, and other Wall Street products could help reduce the deficit and reduce high-frequency robo-trading that causes market volatility and exacerbates bubbles, with hurting more stable buy-and-hold investment methods favored by ordinary families. Making the tax international would prevent evasion.

Hosting a speaker is an excellent event for any conservative or libertarian group. It will attract the attention of the media and generate interest in your group. You can do it at any time of the year.
I have a terrific idea which would benefit the protest, the media, and those in the "system" who might not know what direction to turn in regards to the Occupy Movement. The idea is: get actors and role-players together to speak at an event. The actors and role players would dress up to look like certain people (ie... the President, the governor, a policeman-police chief, a politician, an executive 'of the 1%" etc...). ...more »
If the media has such a negative outlook on the movement, then bring the attention to their door step as well. Occupy Fox news headquarters. Also if people could boycott the use of cable on a large scale i think that would send a message.
