Hosting a speaker is an excellent event for any conservative or libertarian group. It will attract the attention of the media and generate interest in your group. You can do it at any time of the year.
If the media has such a negative outlook on the movement, then bring the attention to their door step as well. Occupy Fox news headquarters. Also if people could boycott the use of cable on a large scale i think that would send a message. I'm concerned that if things get out of hands and martial law does come into play, they will simply shut down all forms of communication. The non violent protest are giving this ...more »
The carried interest tax break allows hedge fund managers and similar money managers at privately held partnerships to treat most of their income as capital gains, allowing it to be taxed at 15% and costing the government billions in tax revenue.
A small tax (such as 0.5%) on trades of stocks, bonds, derivatives, and other Wall Street products could help reduce the deficit and reduce high-frequency robo-trading that causes market volatility and exacerbates bubbles, with hurting more stable buy-and-hold investment methods favored by ordinary families. The simple answer is, because the rules and institutions governing our food ...more »
I have a terrific idea which would benefit the protest, the media, and those in the "system" who might not know what direction to turn in regards to the Occupy Movement. The idea is: get actors and role-players together to speak at an event. The actors and role players would dress up to look like certain people (ie... the President, the governor, a policeman-police chief, a politician, an executive 'of the 1%" etc...). ...more »
